Karlye Becker

Karlye Becker is a Veterinary Neurologist joining the BVNS team in Springfield, VA. Dr. Becker is originally from Tampa, Florida and attended the University of Florida for her undergraduate and veterinary degrees. Her interest in neurology was spurred during her clinical years, during which she experienced neurologic disease both from the viewpoint of a clinician during her clinical rotations and from the perspective of a pet parent, as her own dog was diagnosed with disc disease and required two surgeries while Dr. Becker was pursuing her degree.

After obtaining her DVM in 2021, Dr. Becker completed a rotating internship in small animal medicine and surgery at Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine and a specialty internship in neurology at the Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Becker then made her way back to Florida to continue her neurologic training, completing a residency with Southeast Veterinary Neurology in Miami. While Dr. Becker enjoys treating and managing all neurologic disease, she has a special interest in intervertebral disc disease and seizure management.

Outside of the clinic, Dr. Becker enjoys baking, reading, listening to D&D podcasts, and spending time with her dog, Stitch. As Stitch has already racked up two prior spinal surgeries, she has been expressly forbidden from attempting a hat-trick. Stitch copes with this limitation in her creative endeavors by taking plenty of naps and stealing the occasional milkshake.
